Welcome to Prism ("we," "us," or "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclosure, and safeguard your information when you use our narrative intelligence web application.

2. Information We Collect

A. Personal Account Information

When you authenticate via Google Sign-In, we collect and store the following information provided by Google Firebase:

• Identity: Your full name, email address, and profile picture URL.
• Identifiers: A unique User ID (UID) assigned to your account.

B. Usage and Interaction Data

We collect data regarding your specific interactions with the Prism platform:

• Search Queries: The entities (people, companies, brands) you analyze.
• User Content: Comments you post, including the text content and timestamp.
• Preferences: Your "Favorites" watchlist, blocked users list, and email notification settings.

C. Technical Data (Guests)

If you use Prism as a guest without signing in, we log your IP Address temporarily to enforce daily search limits. This data is stored in our database under `guest_usage` and resets daily.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

• Service Provision: To authenticate access, manage your subscription status (Free vs. Pro), and persist your watchlist and settings across devices.
• AI Processing: Your search queries are transmitted to our AI providers to generate narrative summaries, sentiment analysis, and comparison data.
• Community Features: To display your name and avatar alongside comments you post and to enforce moderation actions (e.g., blocking users).
• Transactional: To link your account to a Stripe Customer ID for subscription billing.

4. Sharing with Third-Party Services

Prism relies on third-party services to function. We share specific data segments with these providers:

• Google Firebase (Backend): Stores user profiles, comments, and application state.
• Google Gemini (AI): Receives search queries to generate intelligence reports.
• Stripe (Payments): Receives your email and User ID to manage subscriptions. We do not store your credit card information on our servers.
• Yahoo Finance: Receives ticker symbols to fetch stock market history.
• Wikipedia API: Receives entity names to fetch public images and summaries.

5. Local Storage and Cookies

We use Local Storage on your device to enhance performance and user experience. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. Data stored locally includes:

• prism_uid: Your session identifier.
• ego_theme: Your preference for Dark/Light mode.
• ego_history: Your recent search history (stored only on your device).
• ego_watchlist: A cached version of your favorites.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Retention: We retain your account data indefinitely to provide the Service, unless you request deletion.

Deletion: You may delete your account at any time via the "Danger Zone" in your Account Settings. This action permanently removes your user profile and authentication credentials from our system. Note that public comments may remain anonymized or deleted depending on current moderation policies.

7. Security

We implement security measures designed to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption and restricted database rules (Firestore Security Rules). However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
